Editorial policy.

Our standards for creating, reviewing, and updating health-related content — so you know exactly how the information on this site is produced.

Last updated: 7 July 2026

Our editorial purpose.

waterintakecalci.com exists to make evidence-informed hydration guidance accessible to the general public. Our editorial decisions are guided by one primary question: Is this genuinely useful to someone who needs accurate, safe information about their water intake?

We do not create content primarily to rank in search engines. We create content because the topic is genuinely relevant to hydration and has an educational purpose. SEO is a secondary consideration, not a driver of editorial decisions.

Medical content standards.

Every health-related statement published on this Site must comply with the following rules:

Never invent or fabricate facts.

Every claim must be traceable to a named organisation or published study.

Never exaggerate benefits.

We describe what evidence suggests, not what it proves, unless consensus is overwhelming.

Never make absolute claims about health outcomes.

Hedged language is mandatory: "research suggests," "evidence indicates," "may support," "for many healthy adults."

Never promise prevention, cure, diagnosis, or treatment.

We are an educational resource. We explicitly disclaim any diagnostic or therapeutic purpose.

Never recommend medications or supplements without caveats.

If we mention supplements, we note that evidence varies and professional consultation is recommended.

Always direct high-risk groups to healthcare professionals.

Individuals with kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or any other relevant condition are always directed to consult a qualified provider.

Attribute claims to named organisations.

Rather than stating "experts say," we name the specific organisation: "According to the WHO..." or "The National Academies of Sciences recommends..."

Acknowledge uncertainty when evidence differs.

Different organisations may give different guidance. We note this rather than selecting one and presenting it as universal consensus.

Source requirements.

Factual claims must be supported by at least one of the following:

  • Published guidelines from the WHO, NIH, National Academies, EFSA, ACSM, NHS, or CDC
  • Systematic reviews or meta-analyses published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Randomised controlled trials published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Expert consensus statements from professional medical organisations

We do not use anecdote, social media, or marketing material as evidence. We do not copy text from source organisations — all content is written originally, based on our own reading of source documents.

What we will not publish.

  • Content that implies our calculator is a diagnostic or medical device
  • Content claiming that drinking a specific amount of water will cure, prevent, or treat any disease
  • Sensational or clickbait headlines that misrepresent the evidence
  • Supplement recommendations without appropriate evidence caveats
  • Content paid for or sponsored by commercial interests
  • AI-generated content published without human review and fact-checking
  • Plagiarised or substantially paraphrased content from other websites or health organisations

Update and correction policy.

We review all health content pages at least once per year. If a major health authority updates relevant guidance, we update affected content within 30 days of becoming aware of the change.

If you believe a factual error appears on any page of this Site, please contact us via our Contact page. We investigate corrections promptly. Significant corrections are noted on the page itself with a correction date.

All pages display a "Last updated" date in the footer or page header so readers can assess how current the content is.

Editorial independence.

Our editorial content is produced independently of our advertising revenue. Advertisers have no influence over the topics we cover, the claims we make, or the conclusions we reach. We do not accept guest posts, sponsored articles, or paid links.

The Site is funded by display advertising through Google AdSense. This relationship is disclosed in our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
